Each volume has stunning full-page steel engravings of battle scenes and portraits of military leaders. Volume 3 includes color maps as well.
Very handsome publication in two-tone brown and maroon Moroccan leather with gilt-stamped decoratives and spine titles. 21 engraved portraits in Vol. 1, 24 in Vol. 2, and 33 (of 35) in Vol. 3. 926 + 616 + 976 pages. Marbled endpapers and page edges. Heavy set ~ 20 lbs.
