Item description
Rare find !!!
New old stock Shure mics
Bid is per mic, use QTY 2 for a pair, if still avail.
These appear to have been remarketed by Kodak, probably as an accessory to a slide projector system or something similar, since Kodak normally does not sell microphones.
The outer box is stamped "DY88G" and the mics are tagged Kodak PA-8
These look identical to Shure model 575 (or 575s switched version)(this mic is not switched) so the DY88G number may have been a number they had for special issue.
We found this below on the Shure Q+A website ( note I am not sure the difference between Y and G but probably the cable or connector) :
Question: We
need to replace the microphone used as the voice input channel for a
Honeywell recorder. The old microphone is a Shure DY88Y. We do not have
any specs on this mic. What do you have that replaces that model?
Answer: The
DY88Y was similar to the Shure 575S. The 575 model is discontinued. A
Shure VP64 will have similar specifications to the 575.
And from shure for VP64 The omnidirectional pickup pattern provides uniform pickup on or off
axis, eliminating the need for critical microphone positioning. The
VP64A series also features a tailored frequency response with an upper
midrange presence rise that adds crispness and clarity to speech. Frequency response: 50 to 12,000 Hz
We plugged each into a sound system and tested them. They have that good bluesy sound of a 575 as often used for harp mics.
200 ohm DC resistance measured, but had plenty of output on a HiZ mic input.
