Item description
NAPA Auto Parts, Model #NBD 620
6-Point, 3/8? Drive, 5/8" Deep Socket
This may look like a sparkplug socket, but it's not. I was confused for a while until researching the issue. When this model was made, the sparkplug version of this product as NAPA item #NBD 620S. In fact all of these deep sockets from NAPA had the added "S" on the end of the model numbers to differentiate their deep sockets from the sparkplug variations. Visually, at least on the surface, they appeared the same.
Today, NAPA's socket models - under a newer line called "Carlyle Hand Tools" have differentiate these socket types from one another as most other brands do reserving the "nut-shaped" end for sparkplug sockets. (Go ahead and laugh, but I am new to tool lingo and info...lol!)
Anyhow...this is a good old-fashioned, deep socket. It appears to have never been used before - instead it's been sitting in my late husbands big red toolbox.
Please buy it from me.
-------------------------------------------------------------------
A Short Story....
Funny thing...after my husband passed, it took months for me to start rummaging through his stuff. When I finally got to it, the huge 6 foot red toolbox on wheels was quite an adventure. (I still cannot fathom how he alone got that thing down the narrow turning stairwell into the basement - no matter it being two pieces.) That toolbox held many things like this socket that I had no personal interest in....However after going through all the big tool drawers, I hit the small ones to find them FULL of odds and ends that I suppose had no place other than to be chucked in the big red tool box. Most of it, from my perspective, was junk. But then again, I have my own drawers like this all over the house - many of them - that he surely thought were full of junk as well.
Nonetheless, it didn't take long before I began finding things in the big red tool box that I had purchased - for a purpose! Of course, in our busy day-to-day, I'd eventually forget about them myself.
But my jaw hit the floor when I came across the new house numbers I'd bought over a decade ago. I'd wondered what ever happened to them and now I knew...big red toolbox! Same astonishment when I found my now old, new kitchenn cabinet knobs...toolbox! Caulk remover and new cualk...switchplate for the entry hall...new outlet to install in the kitchen...all of them were in big red...along with much more.
So, while I figure out what to do with my new path in life, I have some old, new projects to work on. And of course all of this stuff in the basement wasn't junk. There are some really awesome things I found - like my husband's collection of Rolling Stones concert and tour memorabilia I'd never knew he had. Not sure I will part with that anytime soon. But so there's so much good stuff down there, I've taken up selling it .
