Vintage Japanese Postcard - Yasukuni Shrine Giant Stone Lantern,
Designed by Ito Chuta, 1935, Printed in Japan
This authentic pre-war Japanese postcard features the monumental stone lantern (?ishi T?r?) located on the grounds of Yasukuni Shrine in Tokyo, Japan. Designed by renowned architect It? Ch?ta, the lantern was a gift from the Fukoku Chosen Mutual Insurance Company and unveiled on November 22, 1935.
The inscription at the bottom details the size: Height: 34 shaku (approx. 10.3 meters) and Circumference: 60 shaku (approx. 18.2 meters) โ making it one of the largest traditional t?r? lanterns ever constructed.
