Item description
CIRCA 1920?s U.S. ARMY, ENLISTED, CAP BADGE, HOLLOW REVERSE, SCREW BACK
With the Change to Army Regulation 600-35 dated 16 October 1923, bronze colored insignia was eliminated from all United States Army uniforms and replaced with gold colored insignia. The change to AR 600-35 stipulated that older bronze insignia may still be worn if the bronze finish was removed and the insignia was polished to a high shine. The design of the enlisted men?s cap badge was taken from the 1921 style U.S. Army button.
This cap insignia is die stamped from brass and then gold plated. The reverse of this badge is concave rather than flat. This has a small sharp ended pin soldiered to the edge of its reverse to help keep the insignia from turning on the cap. A screw post is soldiered to the badge so that an attachment nut can be sued to fasten the insignia to the cap.
Nice clean original from the early days of the U.S. Army.
