Item description
Kantek Spectrum Ring Mouse RM-3DW-I -1994 Very Rare-Ultrasonic 3D Wireless Joystick In Box. ***There is no software disc included. Set comes with the ring mouse, the receiver box/ sensor, and the box. The box does have a small tear on one side (which is circled in one of the pictures). Please view photos for details and feel free to ask any questions prior to bidding. The mouse has not been tested so it is being sold in "as-is" condition.
This extremely rare piece of computer tech history is an amazing collector's and conversation piece. It is so rare, in fact, that we could not find another one for sale online and not a single picture of the packaging.
The Spectrum Ring Mouse uses an ultrasonic sensor to determine the location of a ring device in 3D space. Moving your hand in midair up and down or left and right moves the mouse pointer in the corresponding direction. Moving your hand toward and away from the screen gives you the Z axis or third-dimension control. Of course, you need to have software that can interpret the Z axis. Many of the new flight simulators and 3-D drawing programs are perfect for Z axis capabilities.
The RingMouse sports two small buttons that function as mouse buttons one and two.
The receiver box requires no external power source, instead drawing very low power from the serial port to which it is attached. The RingMouse itself gets its power from a standard watch battery.
