WW2 British LRDG Cap Beret Badge
Reproduction WW2 British Long Range Desert Group (L.R.D.G.), cap badge. Copied from a very early original and is approximately 33mm in diameter and 1.5mm thick.

The LRDG was formed specifically to carry out deep penetration, covert reconnaissance patrols and intelligence missions from behind enemy lines. They were disbanded at the end of the Second World War.
The original badge was designed by Gunner Claude Olaf Grimsey. There were many versions of the LRDG cap badge made in brass, silver, gold and other metals, with several different designs, albeit all are very similar.
