" Guten Appetit" Mennonite Family Favorite Recipes Spiral Bound Cookbook Author: David Swartzendruber comes from a long line of excellent Mennonite cooks from Kalona, Iowa. He was raised a Mennonite and lived in the Amish Town. His family were farmers and lived off the land. His mother made all things from scratch including soap, herbs, Ketchup, Bread ect. You will find her recipes in this book Edna Swartzendruber, along with other family members. The author compiled favorite recipes from hundreds of Mennonite women noted for their excellent cooking. Tantalizing dishes brought to this country directly from old Dutch, German, Swiss kitchens. This Cookbook has many family recipes including the Authors own mother and Aunts recipes. Each Recipe has the name of maker at the end of the recipe. The Author of this cookbook is from a Mennoite family and has tasted many of the recipes. This cookbook is full of old-fashioned dishes and provides a delightful return to a heritage of wholesome cooking. It contains cherished recipes that were handed down from generation to generation. The Mennonites are closely related to the other's such as the Amish. Many of their foods and customs are similar. The cookbook also includes Kids recipes and activities for them to do.
