Item description

Vintage original 10.25 x 13.25 in. US single-weight glossy photograph from the 1960s Italian-produced war drama, THE DAMNED (LA CADUTA DEGLI DEI), released in 1969 and directed by Luchino Visconti, about the dramatic collapse of a wealthy, industrialist/Junker family during the reign of the Third Reich. The image depicts an exterior night scene as the Germans burn books in a huge bonfire. It comes from a newspaper archive and features grease pencil marks in the bottom of the recto. It is in very fine- condition as shown. Provenance: The Hearst Herald Examiner newspaper archive.
