Vintage original 11 x 14 in. US lobby card from the 1960's Italian-produced fantasy/adventure horror film, THE WITCH'S CURSE (original title: Maciste all'inferno), released in the US in 1962 by Medallion Pictures Corp. and directed by Riccardo Freda, in which Maciste travels to Hell to find a witch and make her undo a curse she put on the surface world. The cast includes Kirk Morris, Helene Chanel, Vira Silenti, and Angelo Zanolli. As indicated in the center of the bottom border, this is scene card #3 from the set of 8 cards. The image depicts a dramatic shot of handsome Maciste (Kirk Morris), bound in metal chains, as he pulls with all of his strength to break them to free himself and the other semi-naked man next to him. It is unrestored in very fine- condition. A great muscle beefcake image with lots of gay interest! This was the third, and last, Maciste film produced by Panda. In the previous Maciste film produced by Panda, Maciste turned up in China in order to use existing sets from another film. For this film, the writers have Maciste turn up, without explanation, in his customary boots and loincloth, in 17th century Scotland. The US distributor used the English language track that was recorded in Italy. This resulted in this film being one of the few in which the hero's name, Maciste, was used in the English dubbed version. For other films involving Maciste, when the English language track was recorded in the US, his name would usually be changed to a more familiar name such as "Goliath" or "Samson."
