Item description

1st CL Legionnaire of the 2nd Regiment 1900, Military Figurine, Collectible Figurine, Foot Figurine, French Soldier Reproduced in standard 1 / 30th, 54mm, the figurines are made in a stable alloy of lead and zinc, with a remarkable finish, both in terms of casting, as paint. Hand painted Hachette collection. The French Foreign Legion is a corps of the French Army with a specific command and comprising several specialities: infantry, cavalry, engineers, airborne troops. It was created in 1831 to allow the incorporation of foreign nationals into the French Army. It formed part of the Armรฉe dโ€™Afrique, the French Army's units associated with France's colonial project in Africa, until the end of the Algerian war in 1962. Legionnaires are highly trained soldiers and the Legion is unique in that it is open to foreign recruits willing to serve in the French Armed Forces. The Legion is today known as a unit whose training focuses on traditional military skills and on its strong esprit de corps, as its men come from different countries with different cultures. Consequently, training is often described as not only physically challenging, but also very stressful psychologically. French citizenship may be applied for after three years' service. Any soldier who is wounded during a battle for France can immediately apply to be a French citizen under a provision known as "Franรงais par le sang versรฉ" ("French by spilled blood"). Weight 76gr
