Ruling authority: State of Israel (1948-date) Type: Non-circulating coins Year: 5729 (1969) Calendar: Hebrew Value : 10 Israeli Pounds (10 ?????) (10 ILP) Currency: Pound (1949-1960) Composition: Silver (.900) Weight: 26 g Diameter: 37 mm Thickness: 3.05 mm Shape: Round Technique: Milled Orientation: Medal alignment ?? Demonetized: Yes Number References: KM#?53.2 Commemorative issue Peace - 21st Anniversary of Independence Obverse The design is composed of an artistic depiction of the four Hebrew letters that form the word "Shalom", while the right-hand side of the first letter "Shin" in "Shalom" on the right, contains three of the seven branches of the Menorah. Around the upper border is the face value, "10 Israeli Lirot" in Hebrew on the silver and "100 Israeli Lirot" on the gold. The mint year 5729-1969 is engraved in the border, to the right in Hebrew and to left the in English. Scripts: Hebrew, Latin Engraver: Zelig Segal Reverse In the center, in stylized letters, is part of the verse concerning the death of Moses: "And no-one knew his burial place". The letters are arranged in the form of a monument and beneath is the reference: "Deuteronomy 34:6". Below, right, is a steel helmet covered by a net with an olive sapling rising from it. The word "Israel" appears below in the center in Hebrew and around the upper right border Arabic and English. Scripts: Arabic, Hebrew, Latin Lettering: ??????? Engraver: Nathan Kar Edge Inscripted Translation: 21st Year of the State of Israel Mints Kretschmer Mint, Jerusalem, Israel United States Mint of San Francisco, United States (1854-date) I believe that this specific coin is the one that was minted in Jerusalem, Israel! I am not 100% sure of this! Comments This commemorative coin, dedicated to the first Jewish soldier whose burial place remains unknown, bears the inscription from the book of Deuteronomy (34:6) depicting the death of Moses, whose sepulcher remains unknown. A special tombstone has been erected in memory of the missing soldiers, in the military cemetery on Mount Herzl in Jerusalem, inside the section of "The Missing Soldiers". The coin is also dedicated to our quest for peace; for the right of the Jewish people to live in freedom in their own land, in peace and independence, which has cost the lives of our soldiers. What you see is what you get - I did not use any stock photos for this listing. I combine shipping! The combined shipping policy is relevant ONLY for PINS, WINGS, SAMPLE SLABS, COINS, ELONGATED COINS, TOKENS, MEDALS, and other SMALL ITEMS, is the full price for the auction with the highest shipping cost and then one additional dollar ($1) for each additional auction won. Larger items will be packed, weighed, and combined as well. If you win a few of my sales, please ask to receive a combined invoice for everything you won. International buyers - you must contact me before you bid to accurately determine the actual shipping cost! 's standard shipping costs are ridiculously high and do not reflect the actual cost of shipping internationally!!! Returns are not accepted, unless I make a mistake in the listing or I accidentally send you the wrong item (and such mistakes do, unfortunately, happen, though seldom). If you have ANY question - please ask ahead of the closing of the auction, and please be kind as to give me a few hours to respond. Shipping is via the cheapest method I can find, which is via USPS Ground Advantage. If you want me to ship it any other way, such as Priority USPS, UPS, or FedEx, please contact me BEFORE buying the item, so I can research the cost. I can ship with any carrier, any way you want! IMPORTANT NOTICE ABOUT SHIPPING COSTS FOR LARGER ITEMS - I use's system to calculate the shipping cost via USPS Ground Advantage, according to the weight, dimensions and your location. Many times, for the LARGER items, I can probably ship it for a much lesser cost with UPS or FedEx! Please send me your zip code, and what you see as the shipping cost, and I will quote a much more accurate shipping cost to you! This item comes from a smoke-free, dog-loving home. We have a beautiful dog, who loves to spread her hair on everything. Although I do my best to clean everything that I ship out, encountering some of her lovely hair is a possibility. I love to recycle, so there's a good chance that I will ship in a previously used envelope or box, and use paper and used grocery bags as packing and padding materials. All of my store items have a MAKE AN OFFER option. If you make a stupid offer, I might counter with a stupid offer of my own. An offer for a few dollars less is reasonable. An offer for half of the listed price is not. Good luck bidding!!! Sandy
