Century English Vase w/Silver Overlay This is a beautiful Japanese Cloisonne Vase w/ Silver mesh wire overlay, or it is a 20th. Century English vase w/ Silver Overlay as the enclosed document states. Please see picture. I submitted this vase to Bonhams Butterfields back in 2011 for identification and apparaisal. They sent me the paperwork back Schedule A to the Master Consignment Agreement, and as you can see it clearly says: "20th. Century English Vase w/Silver Overlay", also it states Designated Reserve for sale at: $700, Low Estimate: $1000, High Estimate $1500.00. I have scoured the internet for similar vases and found both an equal amount of English Vases as well as the Japanese Cloisonne Enamel vases with wire mesh. First, I am not a professional collector, appraiser, nor serious collector of vases, I leave that up to the professionals. So tha'ts where the rub is.... you can purchase this as a 20th. Century Japanese Cloisonne Vase or 20th. Century English Vase w/ Silver Mesh Overlay, whatever fits your fancy as a collector. That way no mis-representation on my part of what this vase is. So please refrain from making rude comments regarding this sale of vase, the original paperwork is all I have for the description. The vase measures: 9 inches height x 4-1/4 inch at the widest part. Has a 2-1/2 inch mouth opening, and the base measures 3 inches across. Beautiful intracate painting of Lotus flower, stem leaves in a dark purple blue w/ adjoining yellow flower (5 pedals). Exquisite silver overlay with (looks like) bamboo reeds. Tightly woven mesh around the base mouth. No chipping, glazing, and the background color looks like dark pink?
