Item description

These are 3 vintage Towle sterling silver candlesticks. They are each 7 1/4" tall and they are all pattern 034. They are marked as "Weighted Reinforced" along with the Towle silver mark, "Towle Sterling", and 034, which is I believe the pattern mark. The bottoms are not silver, but have a rubber or plastic insert. Towle silversmiths was founded in 1857. It is an American silversmith company. In 1881, Richard Dimes, a renowned English silversmith emigrated to America and started Towle's hollowware line. He went on to found his own silver company in the early 20th century, producing highly prized silver pieces. The shape of the sticks is basically a tapered column with stair steps at the base and at the top on the wax catcher or bobeche. There is no threading inside the candle opening. The sticks measure approximately 7" tall. The base is approximately 3 1/2" across . The top with bobeche is approximately 1 7/8" across and the opening is approximately 1" across. I gave them a hand polish. there is still bits of tarnish. The bases of the sticks have some dings and dents along the outer edge. One stick also has a dent on the outer edge and a small dent on the top opening.. One stick has a crease on the bulb or the bulging are under the opening. I have tried to capture these on photos. The dings and dents on the bottom edge are not very noticeable because they are not at eye level, but the sticks are seen from above down. The sticks are highly reflective and flaws are not very noticeable. I believe they can still make a beautiful table. I collected sterling silver candlesticks of various heights and designs and would put them randomly down the center of my dining room table. When not in use for a meal, I would gather them together on a tray and put them on a sideboard. I am downsizing and am selling most everything. Non-smoking household.
