This is a 4 book lot by Calvin Trillin. Trillin has written books of many genres including humor, journalism, novels, food, and poetry among others. He is a long time writer for The New Yorker Magazine and The Nation. He won the James Thurber Award for American Humor in 2012. The books are Uncivil Liberties (1982), Killings (1984), If You Can't Say Something Nice(1987), and Too soon To Tell (1995). Uncivil Liberties is a compilation of Trillin's humor and satire columns first published in The Nation Magazine. In Killings, Trillin is in journalist mode and it contains essays written in his U.S. Journal series for The New Yorker Magazine about sudden deaths, including murder. In If You Can't Say Something Nice Trillin is back to humor and satire with compilation of essays first published in The Nation or as a syndicated column in newspapers. Lastly, in Too Soon to Tell humor and satire abound in a collection of essays first published in The New Yorker or syndicated in a newspaper column. Essays are great for bedtime reading or in a waiting room. You can read one or several, finish them and get the whole point. No forgetting where you were the next day.
