We have planted this size plug on our farm for years, and they grow beautifully. This is the ideal amount of growth for transplanting a plug of this species because their roots are less crowded and not root-bound. Plants that are allowed to become root-bound will not grow as healthy long term. Although larger-sized pots of this species may have more leaves, this size grows very well and saves your shipping costs. Lisianthus is an elegant yet heat-loving plant native to USDA ZONES 8-10, it doesn't like direct afternoon sun. The lowest temperature Lisianthus can survive outdoors is 10F. If you live in zones colder than 8, you may need to bring your plants inside until the temperature warms up again. But we have experimented with Lisianthus outdoors in zone 7 where our farm is. We were able to save it (75% survived for the past 4 years) with a thick layer of mulch until the following spring, but keep in mind that it needs to receive plenty of light
