ALPHONSE MUCHA JOB 1898 1 OZ .999 SILVER COIN NEW RELEASE 2021 #7 in series 1 TROY OUNCE JOB 1898 MIRROR-FINISH SOLID .999 FINE INVESTMENT-GRADE SILVER PROOF ONLY 3000 TO BE MINTED "JOB 1898 ", one of Alphonse Mucha's most popular works. JOB was completed in 1896 and was Mucha's best known advertising poster. The poster established the iconic image of the "Mucha Woman" with swirls of abundant hair. JOB is the trademark for the Joseph Bardou Company, manufacturers of cigarette paper. The piece features a woman holding a lighted cigarette with the smoke rising, intertwining with her hair and the company logo. World renowned artist/painter Alphonse Mucha was born in the Czech Republic in 1860. At the early age of 17, Mucha resolves to become a professional painter and set out to begin his art studies in Munich. Mucha moved to Paris in the late 1800s, continuing his studies and becoming very successful producing magazine and advertising illustrations. It was about 1895 that Mucha produced posters for plays catapulting his success. He produced a flurry of posters, advertisements, paintings and book illustrations. Mucha also designed wallpaper, jewelry, and even theatre sets. The "Mucha Style" became known as Art Nouveau which is French for new art. The Art Nouveau period was most famous from 1890 - 1910. Mucha moved to Prague continuing with his brilliant art decorating landmarks around the city with murals. When Czechoslovakia gained its independence, Mucha designed new postage stamps, banknotes, and government documents. He continued his art through to 1939 when he passed. ?
