Item description
~1910 Detroit Publishing Co. Postcard:
Hopi Blanket Weaver #11251
Original ~1910 postcard of a Native American Hopi blanket weaver. The Detroit Photographic Company was launched as a photographic publishing firm in the late 1890s by Detroit businessman William A. Livingstone, Jr., and photographer and photo-publisher Edwin H. Husher. The company obtained the exclusive rights to use the Swiss "Photochrom" process, a photomechanical technique that used lithographic stones to convert black-and-white prints to color. The process allowed the company to mass-produce color postcards, prints and albums that were of unusually high quality. The company changed it's name to Detroit Publishing Company in 1905.
Divided back, postally unused. Please see my other Native American postcards.
