These cases will only charge your earbuds and will only do so when plugged up to a power source, some customers have said that this cases charges their buds fully, and others have said it will only charge to 60% and will only charge while the case is open. One thing for sure is It will not go into pairing mode, will not sync with your earbuds. Bose has made a software update to pretty much make it so that a person can't order a replacement case if they lose theirs or it is damaged and instead forces their customers to have to buy a completely new set.
