(Internal # R-408-M) This is a selection of genuine natural Herkimer diamonds in matrix specimens, from Herkimer, New York. Specimen is 11.9 oz, 2-1/2 x 2-1/2 x 1-3/4".

HERKIMER DIAMONDS: From a Herkimer, New York State mine. Double-terminated (points at both ends) diamond quartz crystals formed 500 million years ago under the Cambrian Sea (now NY State). Water formed pockets in deep-sea rock. Silica filled these "vugs" which grew these crystals, such a high quality quartz that the mine indeed calls these "diamonds". You can go and mine for yourself too!
