This beautifully detailed Thistle (Cirsium arizonica) was drawn by artist Mary Vaux Walcott in 1938. She was born in Philadelphia, PA in 1860 and spent her summers in the Canadian Rockies, carefully illustrating hundreds of plants and wildflowers she found there.
