Item description

Two Japanese Framed Silk Embroidered Paintings Pictures Vintage 12" x 9" Frames are 12" x 9" and pictures are approximately 11" x 8". My mother-in-law found these in the bottom of her mother's cedar chest. She put them into some inexpensive frames to protect them from fraying anymore. They are in good condition for their age other than the edges fraying a little. Could be hung as is, or reframed with a nice mat to really look stunning. Japanese hand embroidered painting, showing Mount Fuji. The tradition of making embroidered paintings developed in Japan in the nineteenth century. The representations made by famous painter/artists, such as Kishi KikudU (1826-1897), Imao Keinen (1845-1924), and Takeuchi SeihU (1864-1942), were turned into embroideries, using the embroidery skills developed since the Edo period.
