This is a treasure of a stein that I stumbled upon the other day. I was so excited and could hardly wait to research it and see what I could discover. I found a handful of differently painted, by different individuals, versions of this same ceramic piece and none were anything near as beautifully done as this one. The artist who glazed this used realistic colors and accented in brilliantly rich gold. This is truly a one of a kind piece with gorgeous, dramatic coloring. It depicts a German, lederhosen wearing hunter, with his hunting dog on one side, with a buck deer on the other side. There is greenery around and the handle is shaped and glazed to resemble a tree branch. There are gold accents on the decorative bands at the top and bottom. It is highly dimensional and beautifully detailed. I love how the deer's and the hunter’s heads peek out of the sides of the stein! It is such a handsome piece. It even *feels* wonderful to hold. It is signed on the bottom “EP”. This stein is in remarkable, excellent condition. It is a very tall 13 inches with the lid on, as shown in the pictures. Because this piece is so unique, I'll be adding insurance to the shipping.
