Item description
Offered here is this Very Nice Silver Plate Caddy Containing 6 Beautifully Etched Glass Condiment Jars. I am unsure of the exact age or origins of the set. Unfortunately the Silver Plate caddy is not in very good condition. The silver is a bit tarnished, but would polish up nicely, however, the caddy is bent at the stem and therefore it is a bit lopsided. This could probably be fixed, but it would need to be fixed to be completely functional. The set contains four different shaker jars, one cruet, and one relish jar. The Silver Plate lid on the relish door is broken off at the hinge and while it is with the set, it is no longer attached to the jar. The shaker jars vary from 7.25" tall, to 8.5" tall. Some of the lids fit on tightly, while some of them are a bit loose. The cruet jar has a solid glass stopper, and is 8.5" tall at the top of the stopper, and 6.5" tall at the rim. The relish jar is 5.75" tall at the top of the lid, and 4.25" tall at the rim. Each of the condiment jars is 2" in diameter at the width, and 1.5" in diameter at the base. They all sit very nicely inside the caddy. The detail on the caddy is absolutely exquisite. With a very ornate leafy pattern around the rim, and a wonderfully cut-out pattern at the top of the handle with a sort of tulip in the center. I am unsure of the age or origins of the set. It is a beautiful, complete set, and would be very nice if the caddy could be repaired. The jars alone are a wonderful set in and of themselves, however, and would make a nice addition to any silver plate or antique condiment or or etched glass collection.
