The lotus symbolizes Green Tara’s power to bring enlightenment, purity, rebirth, and triumph over obstacles. She is seated serenely, yet readily pointed to assist her followers in need. Tara is understood to be the most powerful female deity in the Buddhist pantheon. Her name means “Star” in Sanskrit, and she is believed to possess the ability to guide followers, like a star, on their spiritual journey. She is assumed to be from the mid-20th century and has “India” engraved on her back.
